The Finnish Civilisation at Finnskogen
One of the most known incidence in the history of this district, is the settle of finns in the middle of the 1600 centry. The finns came from allready established sattles in Varmland Sweeden, and build their cabins and houses in the so called Finnish woods at the border between Norway and Sweeden.
This imigration was a result of a groth in the population of finns in Varmland in the beginning of the 1600 centry. The woods was far away from the civilisations and was allmost nothing worth at that time, and the finns establishment could go on allmost without any protests.
The deep wood streches allmost 300 kilometer and 20km wide at both sides of the norwegan/sweedish border, where the main activities was near the two big lakes Store Røgden and Øyersjøen. In the middle of the 1600 centry, a pure finnish settle was eatablished in the area that is called Finnskogen these days. The first finnish emigrants came to Våler Finnskog where they sattle down nearby Gravberget and Risberget, where they could find enough wild anymals and fish in the lakes and rivers as Halsjøen, Ulvåa and Kynna.
Excactly when they come and sattle down, is not clear, but Anders Mortensen Liitainen(Liden) did rent some land in the year 1656. His family does still live in this area.
